Bielnik. Portiernia / Bleachery. Gatehouse at the main gate

Bielnik to teren dawnych Zakładów Żyrardowskich, gdzie odbywał się ostatni etap produkcji, polegający na uszlachetnianiu i upiększaniu tkanin, poprzez ich bielenie, farbowanie, nadrukowywanie wzorów, apreturowanie czy maglowanie. Tutaj również, spod rąk sprawnych żyrardowskich szwaczek, wychodziły najróżniejsze wzory obrusów, serwet, bieżników i inne wyroby lniane, które rozsławiały Żyrardów na całym świecie, jako polską stolicę lnu.

The Bleachery is the site of the former Żyrardów Works, where the final stage of production took place, consisting in refining and beautifying fabrics, by bleaching, dyeing, printing patterns, end-use finishing or mangling. It was also here, from the hands of skillful Żyrardów seamstresses, that the most varied patterns of tablecloths, napkins, runners and another finished linen products, which made Żyrardów famous all over the world as the Polish capital of linen.
